Naval History and Heritage Command says: USS WYOMING (1859-1892). Photographed at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, in her configuration of 1871-1882. Note the gun (probably a 60-pounder Parrott) on the forecastle, covered with canvas. After the end of her active career in 1882, she served as a practice ship at Annapolis until 1892.
