Tag: Proctor House (City Point VA)

National Archives says: Virginia. City Point. Forage department, headquarters.

Williss, Historical Base Maps. Appomattox Manor – City Point says: The Christopher Proctor House stands on the southwest corner of Prince Henry Street and Pecan Avenue. The house is a two-story frame structure in the early Federal style. It was probably built as early as 1800, although some believe that it was a tavern in 1730.

It has been suggested that the building was used variously as a post office, a barn and troop quarters during the war. However, this has not been confirmed.
