Tag: Porter House (City Point VA)

Williss, Historical Base Maps. Appomattox Manor – City Point says: The Porter House, which stands on the east side of present-day Brown Avenue, is thought to be one of the oldest surviving structures in [City Point.] The two-story frame building was probably built before 1837. Apparently in the Federal style originally, the building has undergone rather severe alterations over the years. [Photographic evidence] suggests that the building was occupied by the Army during the occupation of City Point.
