Appomattox Manor – City Point says: After an explosion at the Ordnance Wharf, a new ordnance and magazine wharf was built some 400 feet out in the James River, connected to the shore by a long pier. The wharf itself measured 29,885 square feet with 218 feet of waterfront. In 1865 the wharf was valued at $17,034.45.
